Family
Day 37
"Families are like branches on a tree. We grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one." Unknown
I like to think that there are no accidents in life. From the things that happen to us, to the families that we are born into, I feel all of these happenings have purpose. Through ups and downs, I can only say that I have been blessed when it comes to my family life.
I'm grateful for the people who raised me, and my ancestors who came before me. It truly does take a village, and my village was loving, wise, supportive, sometimes flawed, but did the best it could. I have always loved being connected to my family and learning where I came frame. Knowing the names of those who came before me, and whose stories led to me being here today.
With age I see myself repeating the phrases of my maternal grandmother, or lavishing in the sweet stories of my paternal grandmother who departed too soon. Families are extensions of each other, leaving everlasting impacts whether or not we see them immediately.
My family has carried me through to this day and I know that even as our stories and lives have changed and transitioned, they will continue to carry me through. There is so much I could say, but to all who helped to get me here today, I say 'Thank You.'
